Where is Sun Sports+ Located?
Sun Sports+ is located on the Naples Causeway across the street from the town dock.
Can I shop online? And how do I know if something is in stock?
Yes, you can shop online on our website! If it says it’s in stock on the site, then we have it in our physical store location. Our inventory on the site shows a live reading of what is available at the shop.
I need a vest, but I don’t know what size to buy. What do I do?
Come by the shop! Our staff is trained to help size coast guard approved life jackets and competition vests. We can help guide you in the right direction so that you get your perfect fit.
Do you rent equipment?
Yes we do! We rent wakeboards, waterskis, kneeboards, towable tubes, water carpets, and paddleboards.
Do you have any old or discounted equipment? I’m on a budget.
Why yes, we do! Come by the shop and check out our Wizard’s Warehouse in the upstairs of our store. We have a selection of last years wakeboards, wake surfers, waterskis, and more. All of these items are available at a discount for you first time boat owners or water sports enthusiasts on a budget.
What else do you sell besides equipment?
We’ve got it all! We have a huge selection of boardshorts, swimwear, and other clothing and apparel. We also specialize in sunglasses and optics. Need sunscreen? We’ve got it! Need nicknacks and Maine novelty items? Absolutely, we have it all. Our goal is to help this summer be the best summer yet. So whatever you need to make that happen, we’ve got in our store.
What happened to your ski school program?
After 25 years of running our ski school, incident free, on the Naples Causeway the State of Maine has enacted a new law. All drivers that teach any form of towable watersports must be certified Maine Guides. Harry Hewes, owner of Sun Sports+, was on the Stakeholders Committee that addressed the matter and worked hard to protect our interest and inform committee members that we had fallen under state law for 25 years and the new requirement would force us to shut down our ski school. For many years we hired amazing boat drivers with a 100% safety record. They had passed the Maine Boating Safety Course and were certified in First Aid per insurance requirements. It was difficult enough to find amazing boat drivers that loved to teach and who wanted a job for 6 weeks. It has become clear to us that finding Maine Guides to drive our boats will not be possible. At this point our ski school will sadly shut down after 25 years. Please feel free to reach out to any Maine Legislator for more information on this decision that has forced us to close our ski school. Our shop will remain open for our 31st year, so come by and say hello!
